The road was closed west-bound on the Charles Drew Bridge in Dalby for around 45 minutes yesterday morning when a car collided with the handrail just after 9AM.

Police report that a female driver was distracted by loose objects on the front passenger seat which resulted in the accident – the driver was simply not paying attention.

Dalby Fire Service and Western Downs Regional Council were on the scene to clean up the oil spill.

The driver is due to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on the charge of due care and attention on the road.

With school holidays around the corner, Police are urging motorists to drive to the conditions of the road.
