One arrest wasn’t enough for this man.

After being arrested on Christmas Eve for an alleged assault, a 31-year-old man backed it up with an arrest on New Year’s Eve for – yes, you guessed it – an alleged assault.

The offender was denied bail after briefly appearing in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday morning – he had planned to contest the charge of assaults occasioning bodily harm.

Police will allege the man and a neighbouring resident in Cambooya were involved in a disagreement on Christmas Eve relating to a dog seized by Toowoomba Regional Council.

The man is alleged to have punched the neighbour in the mouth who required treatment in hospital.

The offender was arrested and charged in relation to the incident.

Just days later on New Year's Eve, the neighbour had been working in the front yard installing a fence when police will allege the same offender and the neighbour got into a disagreement.

The offender is then alleged to have punched the man in the face, breaking his dentures.

He was arrested and spent the night in the city watch house before he fronted Court on yesterday morning.

The Magistrate said he would not consider bail on the matters until probation and parole officers had reviewed the case. The man was remanded in custody and will appear in court today.
