Four community groups in the Southern Downs secured $15,000 of federal government grants to honour local service men and women.

Pratten, Warwick and Stanthorpe will share in the cash with the money going towards fixing or building new war memorials.

The money comes from the federal governments Saluting their Service commemorations program.  An additional $3000 is going to an event in Stanthorpe for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Coral Sea.

Maranoa MP David Littleproud has applauded the community spirit in the Southern Downs for being able to obtain the money.
