On the eve of National Police Remembrance Day, a candlelight vigil will be held at 6pm on Wednesday September 27.

The vigil will be held at the Southern Region Police Memorial, 52 Neil Street, Toowoomba.

This is a special vigil as a plaque bearing Senior Constable Brett Forte’s name will be unveiled on the Southern Region Police Memorial.

Deputy Commissioner Peter Martin will also be unveiling a plaque bearing the name of Sergeant First Class Theodore Herman.  Sergeant 1/C Herman died whilst escorting two drunk arrested men along Shamrock Street to the Blackall Police Station in 1950. This is a historical addition to the Honour Roll.

Neil Street will be closed from 5pm to 7pm to allow the vigil to take place.
