Philanthropist and 2017 Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson will be headlining the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba’s 95th birthday celebrations on Saturday 9th December 2017.

The actor recently said to his sister Connie who is battling breast cancer, “I wish I could soften your pain and lessen your fear,” which resonated with St Vincent’s Private Hospital’s mission and values.

CEO Kathryn McKeefry said it was a wonderful pleasure to have someone of Samuel’s calibre, someone who is so passionate about helping people from all walks of life, to have as the special guest on the night.

“St Vincent’s legacy, mission and values is about helping people. Our four core values of compassion, justice, integrity and excellence, and we are committed to justice and compassionate care for all,” Mrs McKeefry said.

What Samuel has been through throughout his life are things most of us never witness, but for him and the outlook he has for life resonated with our values for so many reasons.

“He is truly thankful and I believe what he said recently about his sister’s Connie battle with breast cancer is something we should listen to – ‘you don’t always get as much as you want of everything, you don’t get as much of your loved ones as you want. But you get them, don’t you?’

“He is truly someone very special and we wanted to help share his courage, compassion and strength with the community at a milestone for the city’s oldest private hospital’s birthday.

“We would love the community to get behind this event and help us celebrate the milestone and hear Samuel Johnson speak.”

The hospital marks its 95th birthday this year and is holding a gala dinner at St Patrick’s Cathedral Centre on Saturday December 9th, 2017. For table bookings please email [email protected].
