Fire crews across the South West responded to 46 home fires during the winter period last year.
QFES Community Safety Manger Neil Fanning is putting the message out now to Darling Downs residents to be prepared around the home during the winter months.
He is urging everyone to check electrical/heating equipment now.
The June, July and August period sees a rise in structural fires due to the use of heating equipment.
Electric blankets being one of the main causes of house fires during the winter season.
