The Darling Downs region was hit with strong winds and heavy showers yesterday.

Cricket ball sized hailstones fell from the sky in Toowoomba and Oakey while winds were recorded tearing through Dalby at 85km/h around 6:30PM.

The outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology across the Darling Downs for the remainder of the week looks like this:

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday:

Cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers in the east, medium (60%) chance elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm. Winds north easterly 25 to 35 km/h turning easterly 20 to 30 km/h in the late afternoon. Daytime maximum temperatures 28 to 34.

Thursday 28 December:

Partly cloudy. Slight (30%) chance of a shower in the morning and afternoon. Winds north easterly 15 to 25 km/h. Overnight temperatures falling to between 17 and 21 with daytime temperatures reaching 29 to 35.

 

Friday 29 December:

Partly cloudy. Slight (20%) chance of a shower in the far east in the morning and afternoon. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. Winds north easterly 15 to 25 km/h becoming light during the day then becoming north easterly 15 to 20 km/h during the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 17 and 23 with daytime temperatures reaching 31 to 37.

 

Saturday 30 December:

Partly cloudy. Medium (50%) chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening. Winds northerly 20 to 30 km/h turning west to north westerly 15 to 20 km/h during the morning then becoming light during the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 19 and 25 with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 30s.
