Charlmay Street located just off Panorama Crescent in the beautiful leafy suburb of Prince Henry Heights could soon be the home of a 40 “pole house” estate if approved by council.

Opposition to the proposal is strong with residents hosting a community meeting on the site of the proposed development yesterday afternoon.

Resident’s concerns include increased traffic, bushfires and the displacement of native animals.

Proponent Shangri-La International Holdings submitted a development application to build the two hectare housing estate to Toowoomba Regional Council on December 22, 2017.

As the development is proposed in land zoned as low density residential, the proposal will be code assessable, meaning residents will be unable to formally have their say on the project. However, the council will take note of any submissions it receives.

It also means there is no requirement for the developer to notify the public of their intentions.

Yesterday's meeting came to an end with an unanimous vote opposing the proposed development.
