New homeless stats are showing that Toowoomba has over 450 people without a place a call to home.

The recent statistics revealed come from our last census in 2016.

Lifeline Darling Downs CEO Derek Tuffield says although homelessness has risen by only point eight of a percent since 2011 the number of people needing emergency care has risen.

Mr Tuffield goes on to say that you can see the signs of homelessness more clearly now with people camped under awnings on Ruthven Street at night.
