Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnerships has officially launched a Community Support Finder Card in its first action as a newly accredited ‘Safe Community’.

In launching the initiative, Mayor Antonio said that Toowoomba Region should be a safe place for the whole community but for those that need help this support finder may just provide the relief that they need.

“The Support Finder provides contact details for a range of community groups that can help in the case where somebody feels they may come to harm, Mayor Antonio said.

“The card will be distributed throughout community in the hope that it will reach those who need help.

Mayor Antonio said that in the case where a person feels that their life is at risk or they are in danger they should always call emergency services through 000.

Chair of the Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnerships, Cr McDonald said the Support Finder card has been created with input from a broad range of groups including the Police, health and support services and suicide prevention groups.

The Support Finder is broken up into three sections covering helpful websites, contact details for 24/7 Support Services plus Counselling and Support Services.

“Toowoomba Region is now an accredited Safe Community and it important that we continue to build initiatives such as the Support Finder to grow a culture of safety and community support.
