The Toowoomba Regional Council will focus on tourism, education, smart technology, sporting facilities and aviation when it joins with economic development partners Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprises (TSBE) as part of Access NZ delegation.

Council delegates will join 70 business leaders on an international delegation to New Zealand to explore trade opportunities for Toowoomba Region businesses.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said Access NZ is a great opportunity to take Toowoomba region and all we have to offer to New Zealand.

“The Toowoomba Region has much to share with our New Zealand counterparts on garden tourism, mountain biking, and attracting international students to the region, Mayor Antonio said.

“Our region is becoming a tourism destination of choice for our Kiwi cousins and in recent years our Carnival of Flowers is a celebration that has attracted their interest.

“The Council delegation will visit Rotorua which is home to world class mountain biking facilities and other adventure activities. Our region has already identified mountain biking as a significant sports tourism opportunity.

“Council delegates will also take time to visit Whangarei (FHAH-NGAH-RAY) to view the 25 hectare community garden project created in a disused stone quarry, which has strong alignment with our own Quarry Gardens ambitions.

Council will have the opportunity to see first-hand the incredible transition that has taken place in a disused Quarry to create a world-class garden tourist attraction.
