The grants are given to charitable organisations who provide local service delivery in areas such as aged care, family support, children, health and welfare, youth and arts.

The program looks at supporting one-off projects that are for a specific purpose, demonstrate sustainability beyond the funding period, strengthen the community, reduce social disadvantage, help find solutions to community problems and benefit as many people as possible.

Toowoomba Regional Community Fund Chair, Joy Mingay, urged local charities to apply for the grants of between $2,000 and $5,000.

“The grants are offered to charities and not-for-profits that need support in the Toowoomba region to carry out and deliver programs that will lead to positive social change in our own backyard. I am delighted that we are able to offer these grants and remind everyone to get their applications in soon,” she said.

Ms Mingay said donations and bequests to QCF for the Toowoomba Regional Community Fund are carefully managed and prudently invested to help build the capital of the Fund, with the income distributed to charities in the Toowoomba region through the grant program to create a valuable and sustainable source of funding for the greater good of the community.

Previous recipients of the grants include AEIOU Foundation, Cancer Patients Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, Empire Theatres Foundation, Reason to Thrive, Sunrise Way and The Eating Issues Centre.

The Toowoomba Regional Community Fund is a perpetual sub-fund which preserves the donations it receives and distributes the income on investments.

The grant application can be found online at https://qcf.org.au/grants/regional-grant-making/ and applications close on November 27.
