A large block of land that has remained untouched for 43 years in a quiet street in Rangeville has been approved to accommodate 16 housing commission units.

State Government has given approval for site to house the units in Lovett Street.

The project has come as total surprise to residents who only became aware of the plans last week.

Residents list of concerns include:

  • Increased noise
  • Increased traffic
  • Units back onto the Rangeville Early Education Centre
  • Invasion of current resident’s privacy
  • Ruin the character of the street

The units will be one bedroom and two stories high designed for the over 55’s.

Construction is set to start in September.
