A Toowoomba woman is calling for a new ‘foster care model’ saying vulnerable children are being bounced around from one home to another far too many times before the age of 18.

Nadine Wright would like to see new laws put in place that will offer permanency orders allowing children to grow up in a stable, loving and safe home she says that the current system puts the needs of parents first.

The Hope for our Children founder says some parents are unwilling to change which means that the children could be placed in as many as 35 fosters homes while parents are sorting themselves out.

Nadine says that more people would offer their help if it were a permanent arrangement.

Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki yesterday praised Mrs Wrights’ proposal.
