“The Award of Excellence acknowledges Council’s proactive tree planting program across the region, Cr Ramia said.

“Council’s has developed a strategic approach to tree management through the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Street Tree Masterplan and Street Tree Park Policy and this has also been recognised by the award.

“The strategic approach to tree planting combined with successful public consultation ensures that the management of Council’s tree populations match the expectations of the community, Cr Ramia said.

“In both Yarraman and Clifton the community was given the opportunity to have their say on the tree planting program including providing feedback on species selection and location. Council communicated with the community through regular updates on the tree planting program, Cr Ramia said.

“During the past two years, the tree planting program has seen 4214 trees planted across the Toowoomba Region.  Councils Urban Forest programme is part of an ongoing commitment to tree planting across the region to ensure the sustainability of the community tree population and further enhance the leafy character of the region.
