Police have charged two boys following the alleged theft of a motor vehicle from Mount Lofty on June 2.

At about 11.50pm, a Rav4 sedan was allegedly stolen from an address in Beatty Street, Mount Lofty.

A short time later, police located the vehicle being driven near Campbell Street and then proceed eastbound down the Toowoomba range.

At about 12.12am, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device against the vehicle which proceeded onto Gunn Street at Helidon where it came to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot into bushland while the male passenger was arrested at the scene.

The driver was located and arrested a short time later.

A 16-year-old Helidon boy is charged with one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to stop motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.

A 16-year-old Glenvale boy is charged with burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Investigations are continuing.
