Drayton police have charged two men with a combined total of 28 offences.

The charges come after a registration check was conducted by a passing police patrol of a vehicle at a petrol station which was displaying stolen number plates.

It will be alleged at 3.15pm Saturday, March 17 police observed the car at a Brisbane Road petrol station.  As police approached the vehicle the male driver fled on foot, with police took the two male passengers into custody.

It will be further alleged the male driver threatened a 60-year-old man at a residence further along Brisbane Street and demanded the keys to his Ford sedan.

The man then got into the Ford and allegedly reversed at a police vehicle that had stopped behind him before driving forward into a fence and becoming stuck.  Following a brief struggle with police the man was taken into custody.

A 23-year-old Chinchilla man has been charged with 16 offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, serious assault police and obstruct police, possession of dangerous drug (amphetamines) and driving whilst disqualified and under the influence of a liquor or drug. He has been denied police bail.

One of the passengers, a 28-year-old Toowoomba man, has been charged with 12 offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of stealing, three counts of possession of dangerous drugs including cocaine and testosterone. He too, was denied police bail.

Some of the charges relate to alleged offences committed at an earlier date.
