Police have found an underground drug lab and firearms during a search of a Leyburn property that is of interest to them in their investigations into the suspected murder of Sam Price-Purcell.

Police began their search of the 70-hectare property yesterday finding guns, boxes of bullets and drug equipment buried on the rural property.

Acting Detective Inspector Chris Knight said there were several suspects and police believed they were getting closer to catching those responsible for Mr Price-Purcell's death.

"We've reached a point where we're aiming towards an outcome. We don't know when, of course, but we're satisfied that we're moving in a very positive direction," he said.

"We do have suspects for this investigation. Those suspects do have a link to this property and that's what led us here."

Acting Inspector Knight said the owners of the property were not suspects, but people with a close connection to them were.

Police believe Mr Purcell was driven to the Toowoomba region, where he was murdered.

Police, forensic specialists and SES will continue their search for the remainder of the week.
