The annual USQ Bookcase Writer’s Festival will return this July with a new line-up of special guests, workshops and panel discussions planned for a weekend to remember.

Bookcase 2017 is jam-packed with exciting events not to be missed, including keynote speaker, Walkley Award-winning author, broadcaster and investigative journalist, USQ alumna Amanda Gearing.

All members of the community are invited to see the weekend’s events kick off on Friday 21 July with the official USQ Bookcase Opening Night Celebration to be held at the USQ Artsworx theatre. The winners of the prestigious Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize and Get Writing competition for school students will also be announced on this night.

Saturday 22 July is the full-day Writers’ Festival, being held in the USQ Refectory building where Amanda Gearing will open the program at 9:30 am. The festival will go on to include various workshops, panel discussions, author Q&A’s and book signings, all tailored to help attendees improve their own writing. Tickets to the Writers’ Festival on the Saturday cost $10.00 and entry is free for children under 12.

Sunday 23 July will offer a range of Masterclasses for attendees with an interest in investigative journalism, eBooks, flash fiction and social media. These sessions are designed to give attendees a more in-depth, collaborative learning experience and are taught by experienced and talented USQ alumni.
