A 28-year-old Warwick man who was refused entry to The Malt House in Warwick now faces eight charges after an alleged assault.

Warwick police said security staff at the restaurant refused the man entry as he was intoxicated and didn't have ID.

The incident took place at 1:30am Sunday when the man allegedly climbed up to the second floor of the building only to be removed by security staff.

The man then allegedly bit a security guard and assaulted four police officers.

He was taken to the Warwick Watchouse and bailed later that morning and is now set to front the Warwick Magistrates Court on November 28 on eight charges.

The offender has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, one serious assault police, three assault police and unregulated high risk activity charges.  He was also charged with failing to leave licensed premises and commit public nuisance charges.
