Over $1.5 million will go towards upgrading the West Street-Drayton Road intersection.

Toowoomba Regional Council announced the spend this week, looking to improved safety at the notorious intersection.

Improvements will include lighting, reconstructing median strips and the installation of traffic signals.

The project is part of the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program, which aims to reduce the risk of crashes.

Construction is expected to start in late June 2017 and, weather permitting, be completed by late 2017.

Access to properties will be maintained during construction works. Motorists’ access to Baynes Street from West Street will be restricted during construction.

Additionally, there will be some temporary lane closures to allow service relocations and other works. Traffic controls will be in place to assist motorists.

Council thanks residents for their patience and co-operation during these works and will seek to minimise disruptions where possible.
