It was good old fashioned footy at Esperance Oval for the twilight clash between Esperance and Newtown-Condi. It had it all, a bag of goals, a melee (and cards) and a hanger. Gotta love your local football!

Esperance were too strong for the Lions, winning 18.16 - 124 to 5.4 - 34. New Bulldogs recruit Yarran impressed with nine majors, while Reece Griffiths continued his domination over Newtown-Condi with five goals to steer his team towards the win.

And it was Griffiths heavily involved in a melee that marred the game. A late hit on the Bulldogs big man sparked the all-in braul, with umpires dishing out three yellow cards on high hits. A red card was given to Brayden Barker, the player who instigated the scrap.

Bad news for Esperance though in the form of some injuries, Zac Wic was knocked out in a pack hit and Kahn was concussed in the same manner.

Roger Parsons and Richie Bourne were instrumental setting up the win, but best afield went to Brendon White who won the Life Line game ball.

At Ports Oval it was much the same with Gibson dominating Ports in a scrappy affair. With the wind blowing a gale early in the game the Tigers were able to piece together more meaningful plays to win 19.15 - 129 to 4.2 - 26.

Sam Melican did the damage for the black and yellow kicking eight, BJ Whiting continued his great form on the half back flank, jailing three and collecting possessions at will. The latter won the Life Line game ball for best player.

Mudie's athletic display was telling in the win with George Bungey reliable in the guts.

Zac Liddelow battled hard for the home side with Stephen scrapping hard around the contest. Much can be said about the courage of the Ports side, who had eight players (Colts and Reserves) playing their second game for the day. Ports kicked three goals in the final quarter to demonstrate the fight they were capable of.

Bye next week but looking forward to Round 7.
