On January 22 Jaimen Hudson received a call from Shire Councillor Natalie Bowman saying she wanted to nominate him for this years Diamond Club Online Achievement Award. The catch was as follows: the nomination were due to be handed in on the following day and he'd have to answer some of the nomination criteria. Jaimen agreed and hurriedly completed the form that night, and then a week he received another call. He had been successful in his nomination and was now being judge on his application for The Diamond Club Online Achievement Award.

Jaimen is better know for his spectacular drone footage, which focuses mainly on the beautiful, natural surrounds of Esperance (check out his website https://www.jaimen.com.au for a better look of his work). His rapid rise to prominence began in 2015 after he bought his first drone following a motorbike accident that severed his spine and restricted him permanently to a wheelchair. He never let the setback phase him though and retained his positive attitude, building a portfolio of breath-taking shots and a massive global following.

His stats are impressive:

  • 39.6k instagram followers
  • Over 250 million youtube views of his videos and images
  • Held the #2 top social media post for 2016 on Tourism Australia

Of particular note is his footage of a single paddleboarder alone in the ocean with two southern right whales. It accrued over 6.6 million views alone.

Jaimen's work has raised the profile of Esperance as a tourist destination, with visitors number rising as they flock to see the destinations show in the social media images posted by Jaimen and shared across the world.

The awards aim to encourage, reward and importantly promote the positive achievements of young West Australians up to and including 29 years of age.

Winners of the awards will be announced on the 26th of May.

Goodluck to Jaimen!
