The Gold Coast Titans have secured star halfback Ashley Taylor on a massive extension worth more than $3 million.
The 22-year-old officially put pen to paper for a further three seasons with the club on Wednesday, keeping him on the Gold Coast until at least the end of 2021.
It came just days before Taylor was due to become an NRL free agent for 2019 on November 1, which would allow poaching clubs like the Brisbane Broncos to make a play for him.
The signing has become the first major win for new head coach Garth Brennan, who has a close relationship with the halfback, mentoring him for the past 18 months.
It comes amid reports the club has also recruited Penrith hooker Mitch Rein on a two-year-deal.
The 27-year-old played for the 2017 NSW Cup winning Panthers side under Brennan, and is chasing more game time on the glitter strip.
