Benowa bus driver bash

A teenage boy has been charged over the alleged assault of a bus driver at Benowa.

The 16-year-old is accused of punching the driver in the face and trying to steal a cash tin, after boarding the Surfers Paradise-bound service in Nerang on Wednesday night.

He briefly stepped off the bus at the intersection of Ross Street and Ashmore Road before he re-boarded and tried to attack the driver again.

A fellow passenger and the driver then removed him from the bus.

The boy has been charged with attempted robbery with violence and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
