Police are calling for witnesses, or for the driver to come forward, after an eight-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle in Benowa yesterday morning.
The child was crossing Benowa Road at the corner of Slayter Avenue around 8:15am on Thursday when he was struck by an orange hatchback.
It can be seen in traffic light camera footage pausing after the incident, then driving off when the boy gets up and hobbles off.
The eight-year-old was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury.
Acting Senior Sergeant Josh Gunter said it was concerning the driver didn't try to help the kid or call for an ambulance.
"Anyone involved in a traffic incident like this is obliged to stop at the scene and render assistance," he said.
"It's also a timely reminder for drivers to be vigilant in and around school zones".
Police are also calling for people with dash-cam footage of the incident or the car to contact them.
