A Surfers Paradise man will spend Christmas behind bars after being denied bail on drug trafficking, extortion and weapons offences.
The 31-year-old was arrested over the weekend and faced Southport Court on Monday, as police investigate a Middle Eastern syndicate, allegedly responsible for trafficking cocaine in southern Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
More than 20 people have been charged as part of Operation Oscar Pompeii so far.
Detectives claim the gang is known for being particularly violent, with this man accused of threatening to seriously hurt a man at his secure apartment complex on the Gold Coast in June 2016.
He's due to face Southport Court again on January 15.
