Compo for Gold Coast school cleaner "humiliated, traumatised" by sex romp prank

A Helensvale State School cleaner has received a $156,000 payout from Education Queensland, after falling victim to a sex prank at the hands of school staff.

Shane Green claimed he was "greatly distressed" when he walked into the school staffroom in September 2014, to find a bed, condoms and empty bottles strewn across the workplace.

The prank was set up by a groundsman, to make it appear an orgy had taken place, and those behind it failed to tell Mr Green it was a joke.

Mr Green's lawyer, Bruce Simmonds, said the joke traumatised his client, who didn't know what to do.

"He was horrified and subjected to great emotional stress by this trauma especially when they didn’t own up to the joke and left him believing it was real,” Mr Simmonds said in a statement.

"“He was devastated by the incident. Who could he speak to? Who should he report this to? He bottled it up."

Mr Simmons said Mr Green's future is unclear, and would like to resume his job but feels humiliated.
