There are sure to be plenty of Aussies cheering for Ghana at next month's Commonwealth Games cycling events.
Gold Coasters, along with other people and businesses from around the country, have donated thousands of dollars worth of equipment to the African country's Commonwealth Games cycling team over the past few days.
It's after word spread their two- and three-wheel bikes were more than six years old and barely roadworthy.
Peter Spencer, who owns GC Bike Fit, led the charge, setting up a Facebook page calling for help after hearing of the team's plight.
Since then he said he has been swamped by people looking to lend a hand.
"I have hardly slept in three days answers emails and phone calls and pledges of supports and it's nothing less than astounding," said Mr Spencer.
So far $3,500 has been raised on a Go Fund Me page for the team, while a heap of equipment has been donated including tyres, helmets, brake pads, chains, shoes and clothing.
