It looks like this man has more than a hangover to worry about after a big night on the booze.
Police will allege the 35-year-old was drunk when he crashed his car into a pole on a median strip on Wardoo St, Southport shortly before 10 o'clock on Thursday night.
He apparently tried to leave the scene but bystanders held him there until police arrived.
Officers claim he was lying down on the ground when they got there, and refused to cooperate with them.
He was eventually taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for observation only, before being charged with a string of offences.
He'll the face the Southport Magistrates Court today on charges including disqualified driving, driving not in proper control of his vehicle, fail to remain at scene, obstruct police, fail to provide police with a roadside specimen of his breath and fail to provide police with a blood sample for analysis.
