It's not just athletes training ahead of the Commonwealth Games, today our firefighters are being put through their paces.
They will be running drills from the Southport Fire and Rescue Station, 34 days out from the major sport event, to test their preparedness and response to emergencies.
Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford said Exercise Home Run will be the final QFES exercise.
“Home Run will test personnel in real time, simulating a normal day of operations during the event," he said
“Today will be used as a final opportunity to confirm processes and procedures developed for the Games and will simulate a range of operational activities, including shift handovers and communications strategies".
There will be about 850 paid and volunteer fire fighters manning the hoses during the major sporting event.
