GAMES LANES & MARATHON: Commonwealth Games Guide

The Games Lanes for the Commonwealth Games officially come into effect over the Easter long weekend.

All of the affected roads have been painted and drivers are asked to be aware of the changes.

Games Lanes will be in effect in the following locations and times:

March 30 - April 15:
Ross Street between Nerang-Broadbeach Road & Ashmore Road.

March 30 - April 15
Olsen Avenue between Southport-Nerang Road & Smith Street Motorway.

March 31 - April 15
Smith Street Motorway between Olsen Avenue & High Street.

April 1 - April 15
Hooker Boulevard / Nerang-Broadbeach Road intersection between Nielsens Road & Sunshine Boulevard (eastbound) and Rio Vista Boulevard to Gooding Drive roundabout (westbound)

April 2 - April 15
Gold Coast Highway between Marine Parade & Thomas Drive and Hooker Boulevard & Via Roma

Meanwhile a number of coastal roads have had blue lines painted on them to mark the route for the marathon on Sunday April 15.

The course stretches from Runaway Bay down to Burleigh Heads, and will be blocked to traffic from 12:30am until the runners move on.

Any car caught parked along the route will be towed at the owner's expense, and residents will have their driveways blocked off.

Sections of the following roads will be affected:

Bayview St, Marine Pde, Brisbane Rd, Gold Coast Hwy, Frank St, Marine Pde, Waterways Dr, Main Beach Pde, The Esplanade, Northcliffe Tce, Garfield Tce, Old Burleigh Rd, Broadbeach Blvd, Hedges Ave, Albatross Ave, Hythe St, Kelly Ave, Kratzmann Ave.

All drivers are advised to travel along western roads and avoid coastal roads where most of the action will occur.
