Investigations continue into tram stop assault

Five teens charged

Police have released footage of a fight that broke out at the Queen St tram station at Southport on the weekend.

A group of teenagers allegedly attacked three young men at the Glink stop around 3:30 on Saturday morning, after getting into an argument.

The victims, two aged 19 and the other 20, sustained non life threatening injuries , after they were allegedly punched and kicked in the head, with one getting glassed.

Two 18-year-olds and three 19-year-olds have since been charged with three counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm and were granted by in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

They will reappear on August 15.

In the meantime, detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or knows of any other people involved to contact police.

They would also like to speak with anyone who may have recorded the incident on a mobile phone.
