New Bundles Of Joy Arriving At Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife handlers have been playing match maker at Currumbin.

Koala breeding season is underway at the Wildlife Sanctuary with one joey already being welcomed and another five are on their way.

Supervisor Sarah Eccleston says they host their own version of a rose ceremony.

"We have very special love making scenarios," said Ms Eccleston.

"Genetically we have to make sure we're breeding the most valuable animals and that we're producing quality, healthy offspring."

Locals and tourists can see the babies straight away at the Koala Nursery Experience.

Last year, 15 koala joeys were born at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and this year handlers are hoping to top that number.
