The proposed ASF casino and resort development at The Spit has officially been terminated by Queensland government.
Premier Annastacia Palaszscuk announced on Tuesday the area would be kept in its natural state, until a community-lead master plan was made for its future.
"Like many Queenslanders, I have enjoyed visiting the Spit for decades," Ms Palaszscuk said.
"We need to ensure that character is preserved for future generations."
The master plan was expected to take around 18 months to complete.
