The Gold Coast is bracing for plenty of storm activity this afternoon, which could bring damaging winds and hail.
Coolangatta was expected to be affected by around 1:05pm on Friday.
Jim Richardson of the Bureau of Meteorology said residents should take the washing off line as soon as possible.
"We are expecting storms, and severe storms as well," said Richardson.
"The main threat being damaging wind gusts and hail ... and that's a similar sort of story tomorrow."
Locals are being asked secure loose outdoor items and move cars undercover.
