Surf lifesavers are bracing for one of the busiest beach seasons ever on the Gold Coast, with summer, Easter and the Commonwealth Games happening back-to-back.
Patrols hours have been extended leading into the peak school holidays, including roving jet ski patrols and expanded services.
While the SLSQ dusk patrol service is returning to Surfers Paradise from tonight, which was directly responsible for saving two lives in dramatic circumstances last season.
Lifesavers will be stationed on-site through until 10:30pm on peak weekends and public holidays.
Surfers Paradise beach was named one of the state's top five coastal blackspots recently.
