Australia has surged well ahead of the pack on the 2018 Commonwealth Games medal table after a spectacular Day Four.

The glut of the medals came in the pool at the Optus Aquatic Centre once again, with the Aussies claiming two clean sweeps, taking the country's total of swimming medals in Games history past 700.

Cate Campbell continued her dominance in the water with another Gold, winning the Women's 50m Butterfly final ahead of Silver medallist Holly Barratt and Madeline Groves with Bronze.

While in the Men's 50m Backstroke Mitch Larkin took home the Gold, with Benjamin Treffers Silver and Bronze for Zac Incerti.

Kyle Chalmers and Mack Horton helped Australia's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay team to Gold, while Chalmers also won Silver in the 100m Freestyle in a dead-heat with South Africa's Chad Le Clos, falling short of catching Duncan Scott of Scotland.

Emily Seebohm won Bronze in the Women's 200m Backstroke final.

Meanwhile on the final day of competition in the Track Cycling at the Anna Meares Velodrome Matt Glaetzer earned redemption after being knocked out of the Sprint heats by winning Gold in the 1000m Time Trial.

Amy Cure claimed Gold in the Women's 10km Scratch Race, and Stephanie Morton and Kaarle McCulloch won Gold and Silver in the Keirin respectively.

Turning to the first day of the Athletics, Matty Denny won Silver in the Hammer Throw.

It's after Dane Bird-Smith and Jemima Montag each won Gold in both the Men's and Women's 20km Race Walk.

Elsewhere around the competition, Emily Whitehead won Bronze in the Vault at the Artistic Gymnastics, while Georgia Godwin won Bronze on the Uneven Bars.

Australia's Men's Triples side took home Silver at the Lawn Bowls, and in the first day of finals in the Shooting Elena Galiabovitch won Bronze in the Women's 10m Air Pistol, while Dane Sampson claimed Gold in the Men's 10m Air Rifle.
