Woman caught snoozing in stolen car

Two people have been charged

A woman has been caught taking a kip in a stolen car.

Police found the vehicle parked on Prowse St, Tweed Heads South around 11:15 on Tuesday night, a week after it was stolen from a home in Tweed Heads West during a break in. 

They allegedly found the 29-year-old asleep in the passenger seat of the vehicle and took her into custody, before arresting a 23-year-old man in a nearby backyard.

The man was charged with aggravated break enter commit serious indictable offence, steal motor vehicle, dispose stolen property, trespass, unlicensed driving and possess prohibited drug.

He was due to face the Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday.

The woman will face court on September 4, charged with drug related offences.
