A fire was reported this afternoon at 4:43pm in an area near Burra Rock. Department of Fire and Emergency Services are monitoring the fire and there are no road closures at this stage. However contact the Shire of Coolgardie or Main Roads for details. 

The Following was released by DFES around 5:15pm today. 

Bushfire ADVICE for 40 kilometres east of WIDGIEMOOLTHA in the SHIRE OF COOLGARDIE

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people 40 kilometres east of WIDGIEMOOLTHA near Burra Rock along Burra Rock Road and Cave Hill Road south of Burra Rock in the Shire of Coolgardie.

There is a lot of smoke in the area.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
The fire started 20 kilometres south of Burra Rock in the Shire of Coolgardie


WHAT TO DO:
If driving

Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS:
Roads have not been closed. However people travelling along Burra Rock Road and Cave Hill Road south of Burra Rock should take care and avoid the area if possible.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

Firefighters are monitoring the situation.
