Local Government Minister David Templeman has claimed the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder is classed as "High Risk" according to information from parliament recently. This analysis is based on financial health, Compliance and probity concerns and governance issues.

The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder was named alongside

  • City of Perth
  • City of Fremantle

and Shires of

  • Carnarvon
  • Denmark
  • Derby West Kimberly
  • Exmouth
  • Waroona

The information came to light after a question posed to the Minister by Shadow Minister Tony Krsticevic.

City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Chief Executive Officer John Walker was unaware of the risk when asked by Glenney on Triple M Goldfields "Well its news to me for a start - The only area we know we were in trouble was the Financial Health as measured around the Index."

"I presume this information is historic"

Mr Walker also indicated that he would be writing to the Director General or Minister to get clarification and also if there is anything to fix - it would be addressed
