Major Crash officers are investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred in Boulder on Monday December 4 at around 7.50pm.

A 2004 white Holden Commodore sedan bearing no number plates was observed by police before the crash.

The officers subsequently found the Commodore had crashed with a 2011 white Toyota Camry taxi at the intersection of Thomson and Burt streets.

The Commodore had been travelling south on Thomson Street, while the taxi had been travelling east on Burt Street.

Three passengers in the Commodore were detained by police in order to determine the identity of the driver.  It was established the driver had fled the scene, along with another passenger.

A 47-year-old male passenger who was being held by police was assisted by St John Ambulance at the scene, but later died at Kalgoorlie Hospital.

His death is subject of an investigation which is also being assisted by officers from Homicide Squad and Internal Affairs Unit as per normal protocols.

The 30-year-old male driver of the Toyota was  treated for minor injuries at Kalgoorlie Hospital.

Major Crash investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the white Holden Commodore sedan with no number plates driving in the Boulder area before the crash.
