On a day where the breeze attacked and the Tigers had one of their favourite sons - Daniel "Stanley" Coughlan break a Club Record, Defence won out. With the Diorites into the 2017 Goldfields Football League Grand Final. 

Lead by Coach Dion Fleay who featured among Mines best, The former West Perth player helped guide his team to a third consecutive Grand Final Appearance. 

The Tigers got an early run on the board with a 10 point lead into the first break, but in the second the Diorites capitalised with Jordan Wythes getting into the game with two goals and piling on four goals to one in the term. However a hundred metre penalty to Mines, gave Alex Connor the only goal for the Tigers.

The third quarter saw the first for Dick Robinson and Mitchell Medallist Scott Worthington, who was kept quiet by a mix of Fleay and Craig Mitchell and Scott Foley at times. As the final siren sounded, The Diorites lock down of the Tigers in the last granted the Diorites an early berth in the Grand Final.

Earlier in the day, Kambalda are into the Colts Grand Final after trumping the Tigers by 12 - The last time Kambalda won a Colts Flag was 1990. Boulder defeated Mines to earn a rest and compete in the Reserves Grand Final. Their last Reserves Premiership was 2015.
