Exploration east of the Goldfields has resulted in a significant amount put into the Nova - Nickel, Copper and Cobalt facility at Fraser Range around 350km from Kalgoorlie Boulder. The process from Exploration to Production has taken five years and will result in around a ten year mine life.
While there are set to be 400 on site for work in the production phase, a significant amount are fly in fly out of Perth with an airstrip capable of receiving Jet Aircraft also part of the operation.
In opening the Mine, Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston who was at the site, said “On behalf of the McGowan Government, I congratulate all Independence Group staff, project partners, stakeholders and the Ngadju people, on the official opening of Nova. We are proud to have played a part in successfully bringing the project to life, the first diamond drill hole at Nova received co-funding from the Exploration Incentive Scheme."
