The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder last night voted to waive fees and charges in 2017/18 for street activities. The charges waived will relate to Public Street Use, Events in the Kalgoorlie and Boulder CBD's, Alfresco Dining, Busking, Community and Market Stalls and any other Community or Social use of the Main Streets and CBD Zones in Kalgoorlie and Boulder. Organisers and businesses wanting to conduct activities will still need to apply even though fees are set to be waived due to insurance and availability.

Several items are now covered to provide a better CBD environment and to increase the ability to perform events and social occasions. Part of the Motion put forward by Councillor Mandy Reidy also included an amendment from Councillor Gary Brown - which was debated in a novel way - to have charges slashed at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course to allow residents a more affordable way to experience the facility.

While fees and charges of Council were on the agenda, so too were  charges from Airlines. A motion was put forward by Councillor Allan Pendal to investigate airfares currently imposed on those who wish to fly between Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Perth. CR Pendal motioned that Council meet with head honchos with Both Virgin Australia and QANTAS to investigate why the charges are so high.
