The Steps of the Goldfields Arts Centre were covered in High Vis as hundreds gathered to show support against a rise in the Gold Royalties. Organised by Member for Kalgoorlie Kyran O'Donnell, the rally was peaceful yet strong towards the 1.25% increase to gold Royalties - which sits at 2.5% and is set to increase to 3.75%.
Politicians stood alongside Community Members, Mum`s and Dads next to Mine Managers as the Goldfields weather put on a show. Kalgoorlie M.L.A. Kyran O'Donnell opened proceedings - quoting Premier Mark McGowan "A Gold Royalty Tax will close mines and job losses will eventuate" Then asked - "Do you want this?" to the crowd which answered with a large "NO!'
Representing the Opposition Leader, former Minister for Mines and Petroleum Sean L'Strange called on the Government to listen "The McGowan Labor government need to listen - they need to understand the impact of these gold tax increases are far reaching".
