The Three Rotary Clubs in Kalgoorlie Boulder have combined to get a massive feed ready for thousands at Centennial Park for the Big Aussie Day event!

Spokesperson Esther Roadnight gave us a little insight to the mammoth effort which 350kg of beef will be cooked alongside 100kg of Onions!

"The logistics to put this together have been enormous and quite different to doing a breakfast. However, in true Rotary spirit we have worked together and we are now ready for this great event. The support from Caitlin and other staff at Council in particular has been extraordinary. She must be feeling worn out especially with bub due any time."

"100kgs of Onions were all finished in around 3 hours. I feel like I'm a walking onion factory!! Currently the butts of beef are being cooked. They will be laced with onion gravy ready for the day. With 350kgs of beef to be cooked it is a huge logistical exercise".

Sponsors and supporters to date have been

Coles - Major sponsorship . All goods required apart from fruit

Woolworths have donated all the fruit

Browns Party Hire equipment needed to safely transport the food from Miners Rest to Centennial Park on the day. This will involve many trips throughout the course of the event.

Miners Rest provided the kitchen, cups of coffee and chai latte plus general and valuable support

Zach Hawke his cheffing (is that a word!) expertise relating to the cooking of the butts of beef

Centurion Transport collected goods from Coles and delivered to Miners Rest

Dane from D&R Plumbing who helped the Rotarians get cooking with Gas and got the ovens ready.

People attending don't need to eat prior to coming to the event. They don't even need to pack a picnic

For a gold coin donation, which will support Rotary Projects, you can grab a hot beef and gravy roll, Sausages and onions for the children and fresh fruit.

With thanks Esther Roadnight and Rotarians George and Stu.
