Orana Cinemas in Kalgoorlie Boulder were the subject of an Armed Robbery late Sunday evening. The second in Kalgoorlie Boulder in less than a week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Beesley, Officer in Charge of Kalgoorlie Detectives spoke to the media earlier today and said 

" About 9pm, a man entered the cinema and approached a staff member at the candy bar section.  The man produced a large knife and demanded cash. The man left the cinema on foot after being given a sum of cash." The man was last seen running through the Cinema Car Park, is described as being in his late 20s, fair skinned, between 170 cm's and 180 cm's tall, with a medium build.  He was wearing maroon coloured pants, a blue hood jumper and sneakers.

The offender also apologised as he took the cash from the venue. DET SNR SGT Beesley said the offender told staff  "I didn't want to do it, I'm sorry for doing it - But it's something I have to do"

When asked about how staff were doing, he said the person behind the counter is holding up well - but we have been providing them with the support they require.
