Victorian emergency services will start using digital radio from next year, impacting Police, SES, CFA, Life Saving & Corrections Victoria staff and volunteers.

It comes after the State's Police Minister admits regional police radio systems are vulnerable, following a hacker in Gippsland calling off a police pursuit.

The analogue system will be phased out in 2018, eliminating key black spots, and increasing security and audio clarity.

Shepparton's multilingual and multicultural communities are being urged to come together tonight to engage in spoken work poetry workshops across the next three weeks.

The task brings together young people of diverse faiths and cultures - to get them to speak their minds and share understanding.

Multicultural Arts Victoria's Sukjit Kaur Khalsa says they're also working with Shepparton High students, aiming to get quite a crowd of speakers for a September 15 public performance.

The Berrigan Red Cross Shop team have been named the Volunteer Team of the year at the Annual Volunteer of the Year awards for the Murray region.

The shop's been operating for 48 years and has 44 registered volunteers between the ages of 19 and 93.

GoTAFE's annual Barista Competition has finished in a draw, with Brother Pablo's Scott Parker and Nobel Monks' Adam Bowe named 2017's best bean brewers.

GoTafe's Claire Taylor says the taste, cleanliness, and presentation of their lattes, espressos and cappuccinos were impeccable.
