The 2018 Royal Children's Good Friday Appeal is well and truly underway, and there's one particular fire brigade worth highlighting for their involvement in fundraising for the worthy cause.
Kyabram CFA and the efforts of the Crompton family have not gone unnoticed. Mick and Sharon Crompton have been involved in Kyabram CFA for over 30 years. And, for the past 7 years, they have been in charge of Kyabram CFA Good Friday Appeal fundraising. Mick also serves as Captain for the brigade.
Kyabram has been a large fundraiser for the appeal, with their total in 2017 just being $38 short of $300,000 despite their brigade being on the smaller side.
Mick and Sharon's son Kayne was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at 6 months of age and had a shunt inserted at 9 months old to drain excess fluid from his brain. Without this life saving surgery, he would not be with alive today. This surgery took place at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Mick has said his personal story is the reasoning behind why the appeal has held such a special place for his family, and is one of the reasons why they are committed to raising more funds each year.
